Ansley + Wes: Married!

Ansley and Wes are a dream!!! SO laid back about everything, smart (Ansley just got her PhD) and incredibly nice people. Their wedding was a little while back (bad blogger!) at the always wonderful Laguna Gloria. Ahhhh…Laguna in the spring with a wonderful couple – hooray! I also have to give a big big thanks to Dave McLaughlin who is not only a wonderfully talented photographer, but a great person to hang out with. Love the Dave!

On to pics  – Ansley and Wes: I wish you so much happiness and good luck with the move! I hope you get to come back to the Alamo Drafthouse soon!

Leaving on a jet plane {out of the office}

I am taking a vacation!!!

I’ll be away from the office from Saturday June 27th through Friday July 9th.

I’m going out of the country (!!!) with a three year old (!!!) so I will have limited access to email and voicemail. I appreciate your understanding if I take a few days or possibly a few weeks to get back to you.

I have planned some fun posts to entertain you while I’m gone and will be having this pop up as a reminder too, so be sure to check below for new content!

I will hopefully have lots and lots of fun photos to share with you when I get back. I’ll miss you – have a good few weeks!

Chalene + Ethan {Engaged}

Oh wow, I really, really like these two. They have mad chemistry, are stylish and incredibly fun. They just rolled with my non stop babble and silly jokes.

I am so fortunate that I am getting to know them and will photograph their wedding. It’s all through serendipity, but I couldn’t be happier!

Thanks so much for such a lovely evening you two!

Lindsay + Lee {Married}

Lindsay and Lee were married at the beautiful Kali Kate Farms in Buda. While the weather didn’t cooperate for an indoor ceremony, I really think it worked out for the best. The indoor candlelit ceremony was so romantic and the cool breezes made it feel like early spring rather than a Texas summer.

Plus these two are delightful to be around. I’ve been looking forward to this wedding since I met them. They radiate fun and love and joy and so did all of their guests.

I loved how this wedding was a family collaboration. The salsa favors were handmade from a recipe of Lindsay’s Dad, Mom did all the floral and personal touches were everywhere. It was a wonderful day to be a part of. Thanks for having me.

Edited to add! I forgot to thank my wonderful second shooter Tali for helping me out!! Thanks Tali!

Faux-Toes Fantastic + Pay It Forward!

My family was lucky enough to take part in an AMAZING photo project called ‘Pay It Forward’.

It was started by one of my favorite photographers, John Michael Cooper. I have taken two workshops with him and not only is he a very talented photographer, he is one of the nicest, most giving people I have ever met. His wife and business partner, Dalissa is also on my short list of favorite people. The object of the program is to have photographer’s families photographed.

I’m sure you can understand that as photographers, we are often behind the camera and miss out on being in the photographs. I have countless, incredible (if I do say so myself) photos of Conor and Savannah, but not a lot of the three of us together. This project aims to fix this by having photographers photograph other photographer’s families at no charge and then that photographer ‘Pays It Forward’ by photographing another photographer’s family (did I use the word photographer enough there?). This should hopefully create a domino effect. You can see lots of great session at http://www.roadsidefamilies.com.

My chain goes like this: John Michael Cooper photographed Eric Doggett’s family who photographed Kristen Roedner’s family who photographed my family. Who will be next? Well that’s a good question! What photographer’s family (and when I say family, I mean that very loosely. Lots of different types of groupings can be ‘families’) wants to get the Shannon Cunningham treatment? Put something in the comments or email me!

Before I show you the photos, I want to tell you about the lovely Kristen Roedner. I am a big fan of her photography as well as her beautiful spirit. She makes the world a better place and I am so thankful that I know her and can count her among my friends. We LOVE these photos – there is a 24×30 image above our fireplace and it makes me so happy to see it every day.

Rebecca + Marcus {Engaged}

It is always a fun afternoon when you get to photograph a couple that has an easy, natural with each other. That’s how you know it’s a good match! I also love it when couples incorporate objects or places, or in this case, a DOGGY that is important to them.  Rebecca told me that she’s had Libby since her and Marcus started dating – cute! She was a wonderful addition to the shoot and a perfectly behaved little princess too.

Also, check out the red shirt that Rebecca is wearing – it’s the perfect color for her and looked amazing against all the bright backdrops of South Congress. It’s a good lesson in knowing what works for you and rocking it! (Marcus – you looked good too!)

Thanks for such a great afternoon you two!

Sherry + Sean {Maternity}

My fellow Diva and wonderful friend Sherry is having a baby!

Lisa Woods and I tromped Sherry and her awesome husband Sean out into a field the other night for a Diva shoot fest! Sherry is super-de-dooper photogenic and has, hands down, the most delightful candid laugh you will ever see. She’s just so fun to be around and I am so excited that her baby girl will be with us in just a few weeks! I love you Sherry!

Amanda & Daniel {Families}

Amanda and Daniel’s incredibly lovely Grandmother contacted me to photograph these kids. I photograph a lot of little people, but rarely get the opportunity to shoot big kids. It’s so fun! Mostly because they do what I say, but also because kids this age have so many cool things to tell you. It’s a great age and parents – photograph ‘em now!

Thanks for being so great you guys!

Elise + David {Married}

David & Elise!!

This was such a fun wedding. The reception was so rollicking that I almost ditched my camera to join in. People from New Orleans are fun, y’all.

Elise is also one of the most animated people (and probably the most animated bride) that I have ever met. Adorable. I hadn’t met David prior to the wedding day but he did not disappoint. He is a joy. These two have such a lovely, easy way with one another. It’s like they’ve been together forever and it was a treat for me to spend the day with them and their guests.

Thanks to my always fabulous second shooter Tali and thanks to David & Elise! You are going to have such a wonderful life together!

This is why I must shoot weddings in New Orleans someday or just more weddings of New Orleans-ians. The Second Line dance! What a way to get the party started! Umbrellas! Handkerchiefs! A big dance line all around the room!

Heather + Maurice {Married}

Heather & Maurice were married in an elegant and thoughtful ceremony on a blustery, rainy day at the lovely Villa Antonia. Although the rain changed the plans a little, this wedding was still full of emotion, beauty and family. It was probably one of the most memorable vow exchanges I’ve witnessed. I have learned to not say “Oh, it’s good luck” when a wedding gets moved due to rain, because, as one of my oldest and dearest friends (whose own wedding went to Plan B due to rain) says, “It should be Texas law to punch someone in the face who tells you ‘It’s good luck’”. I think you will see though, that the beauty of this wedding was obvious.

I love the moody quality a cloudy day can lend and I was happy I got to spend the day with Heather, Maurice and their friends and family.

I also have to give a big fat shout out to Dave McLaughlin, who second shot this wedding with me. If you don’t know Dave, you should.

Here are the details, which were amazing as evidenced by my first ever 16 image collage!

Ashley + Nathan {Day After}

OK, so maybe a little more than the day after, but who’s counting right?

Ashley, Nathan & I tromped around at the Mansfield Dam and made some pretty pictures! This was so fun – I wish everyone wanted to do this type of session. See? You don’t have to ruin your dress.

They also had some very fun ideas that we were able to incorporate so thanks for the fun afternoon guys!
