Tyler, Olivia, Georgia + Palmer {Families}

So when a friend asks me to take photos of their family, I am always equal parts excited and queasy, because I always want to do an extra incredible job. There is some pressure. When that friend happens to be a fellow photographer, multiply that by about a million.

Here are the Schmitts – What can I say? They are adorable and so fun to be around. I love them. You should too.

Rachel + Ryan {Engaged}

This is a darn sweet couple. We met early in the morning down south to catch some of the gorgeous, buttery spring light  we have.  What a lovely way to spend the morning – can’t wait for the wedding you two. It’ll be here soon!

Urban Wedding Divas Open House

I have been remiss in mentioning my new studio space and I think that’s it’s about time I got around to it.

I share a cute studio in east Austin with two other photographers (Sherry Hammonds & Lisa Woods) plus a great makeup artist (Katie Astoria). Although we all own and maintain our separate businesses, we have named the studio the ‘Urban Wedding Divas’. We even have a fun blog that is all things wedding – go see it here (and bookmark it!)

We had our grand opening party last week and it couldn’t have been more fun. I have a million people to thank for helping us make our big night a success.

Becky Brock of Something to Celebrate: Planner extraordinaire! We could not have pulled everything together without her. We are all around weddings all the time, but actually pulling together a party is a bit of a mystery to us and Becky made everything a-mazing! I know I am constantly harping about hiring a wedding planner, but this experience just reinforced that you MUST hire one if you want a stress free day. We LOVE Becky!!!

Wendee Robbins & Petal Pushers – Take a look at the beautiful flower arrangements that Wendee made for us!!!!!!! For my money, Petal Pushers is THE place in Austin to get your floral arrangements. They are so creative and can work with any dream you can imagine. Wendee also runs her own event planning business, Lucie’s Events. You want a gorgeously designed wedding? Call Wendee!!

Cake by Bridges – see those cute little truffle looking things? They are actually cake calls – teeny little cakes covered in chocolate. They are even better than they sound and there was a little scuffle at the end of the night about who got to take the leftovers home. They were a hit

The Sugar High – Oh cupcakes, I could never stay made at you. This company describes what they do as ‘sugar art’ and I cannot disagree. Guests love cupcakes at weddings and bridal showers – FYI. I have seen grown adults freak out over cupcakes. So beautiful and tasty. Thanks Delana!

Mancino Ironworks – donated the cute tables and benches that we had in our outdoor ‘lounge’ area. We had the perfect weather for hanging outside. They also supplied us with our cute iron shutters that we have in the studio full time. Lounges are really popular at weddings right now – so give them a call if you need some help. Plus they are about the nicest people in the world.

Wildwood Wine & Spirits – Who doesn’t love the wine and cheese people? Seriously yummy and a dream and a half to work with. Thank You!

Unbridaled -The lovely Kim from dress shop Unbridaled let us display an adorable dress and hat (HATS!) from her shop. Want to be different on your big day? Go see Kim.

Dagar’s Catering made us a HUGE tray of cookies (Do you see the theme? We like sweets!). Love them.

Also, a big thanks to all of you who came out to support us. We couldn’t do it without you – thanks a million!

Enjoy the pics – I have photo booth pics coming soon!!!!!

Audrey & Ryan {Married}

Audrey & Ryan were married on a cool and cloudy Saturday, but despite the less than favorable weather, they had a warm and wonderful wedding day.

The ceremony was held in Riverbend Chapel (which has a million great things going for it, including Brynn, the coordinator – she’s great) with a reception at Riverplace Country Club. I had my wonderful second shooter Tali Wildman and the day couldn’t have been better. Thank you Ryan and Audrey for letting me document the start of your new life. You are great!

Who needs a bright and sunny day when you have moody, romantic lighting like this indoors?

This is my favorite image from the day. Audrey & Ryan all lit up in the center there, her expression and the million other little stories happening throughout the frame. I see something new everytime I look at it.

Dadlabs

So my awesome friend and photographer Eric Doggett is doing a series about photography at www.dadlabs.com. It’s a cute site with tons of info for Dads, who do tend to get lost in the mommy-blogging-sphere. So yea for dads!

Anyhoo, some of my maternity work is featured in the segment they did, plus some from some other great Austin photographers. Here’s the info from Eric’s post:

DadLabs is a site run by some very cool people here in Austin. They teach guys how to deal with everything related to children through daily video episodes, and I’ve enjoyed several of their fun and hilarious productions over the last year or two!

They asked me to kick off a Photo Month series with them, and I was excited to be a part of it! We shot 4 episodes which will be launched over the next few weeks covering a variety of photo topics.

The first episode is online, and it showcases some excellent pregnant-picture ideas from some incredibly-gifted Austin talent! Check it out here:

Here are the photographers we featured in this episode:

http://www.eclecticimagesphotography.com/
http://www.masonphoto.net/
http://weathershenkerphotography.com
http://www.shannoncunninghamphoto.com
http://www.dcmphotography.com

Plus a couple of my images as well. :)

Check out the video, and then be sure to visit DadLabs to see all of their great content (they post shows daily on a variety of topics, so it’s worth checking out!).
