Kathryn, Scott, Will, John Paul, Anna Laura, Claire + Baby W: Maternity + Families

If you have been living in Austin this summer, you may know a thing or two about the ridiculous heat we’ve been having.

Well, some portrait sessions just can’t wait for cooler weather. A maternity session is one of those. I trotted poor Kathryn, Scott and their four children out in 105 degree temperatures the other week. They came armed with a large jug of water and a great attitude. If you look through the blog archives, you will notice that I could have a category just for this family alone. I’m so happy I’ve been along for the ride with them and can’t wait to meet the newest arrival. I’m betting on girl.

I have a really great set of out takes from this series. One of the kids was running around in the back of several before we got this shot. I was very entertained while editing.

Sarah + Eric: Allan House, Austin Wedding Photographer

Sarah and Eric have waited so patiently for this post, so I hope that they enjoy the extra blog images. Oh August weddings….so hot and steamy, but these two didn’t care because they are so go with the flow. I had a ball with them during their engagement session, so I knew that I would love being at their wedding. They were married at St. Austin’s Catholic Church downtown with a reception following at The Allan House. I love St. Austin’s location – it offers so many fun, non-traditional places to shoot plus they have a great courtyard. Sarah and Eric also chose to see each other before the ceremony, so I got to shoot a first look sequence, which is always one of my favorite things to do.

The Allan House looked great and between the amazing Matty Cakes (the Bride’s Cake is one of my favorite ever – so gorgeous) and the photo booth, everyone had a wonderful evening.

Extra thanks to my second shooter Tali – a delight as always!

Thanks again Sarah and Eric – I loved being at the wedding and meeting all of your family and friends! I wish you so much happiness!

This is possibly my favorite sequence from a ceremony ever.

Lauren + Allen: Austin Engagement Photography

Another scorching hot day for an engagement session and two more cool clients!

Lauren and Allen braved the heat (and an honest to goodness crazy guy) to shoot around the east side with me. My Houston clients have been fabulous this year! I love that they are coming to Austin to get married and I get to be a part of all these delightful weddings with wonderful people.

Lisa + Nick: Engaged

Lisa and Nick told me that they were awkward in front of the camera…OK. I’ll take awkward like this all day, any day. Lisa is from Chicago and has this delightful mid-western accent that reminds me of my family and Nick is a quiet soul from the south. They are quite good together and although I won’t be able to photograph their wedding in Houston next May, I am glad I got to be a part of their wedding preparations. Keep in touch you two and I’ll chat with you soon!

Jackson: Babies

Installment three (four if you count the maternity) of baby Jackson.

Jolie + Jordan : Engaged

I first have to congratulate all of my recent photo shoot participants for braving the crazy Africa heat that we have been having. It’s easy to want to wait until the fall to shoot your portrait session, but sometimes that’s just not an option. I have several sessions to show you and it was H-O-T for all of them. I am a sweaty mess at then end of a shoot (I get excited and running around when the ideas start cooking), but you have all looked cool and cute.

Secondly, I want to point out what Jordan and Jolie are wearing – it’s a great example of ‘coordinating, but not matching’, which is what I tell people to shoot for when choosing their outfits. I also really covet this belt that Jolie is wearing, by the way. They are also wearing clothes that they feel comfortable in style wise. That’s really important because you want to feel confident during your session. The last thing I want you to be worrying about is your outfit.

I had a wonderful time with Jordan and Jolie. They were game for all of my silly ideas and were more than happy to walk around (in nice shoes) in this secret field I found a while back. They also have an exceptionally cute and well behaved dog named Harley that they brought along (and who will show up momentarily). I can’t wait for their Hamilton Twelve wedding this fall (when it will hopefully be much cooler)!
