Leigh + Mica: Austin Engagement Photography

As you should know by now – I love morning photo sessions in the winter! SUCH pretty light! I don’t know what it is about January morning light, but I LOVE it!

Leigh and Mica were the best of good sports getting up early with me and trekking around South Congress. They are getting married in Nashville this summer, but wanted some Austin photos to have at the wedding. They are adorable and super photogenic (Hello cute dimples!) . Thanks for such a great morning!

Leigh had a case of the giggles early on. I love it.

We also incorporated Leigh’s cute Mini Cooper in to the session. That is a car with a lot of personality.

Celia + Dustin: Austin Engagement Photography

Hey, remember when it was sunny in Austin? I think Celia and Dustin got one of the last sunny days we have had!

I traveled down to Driftwood, where these two call home and had a delightful morning with Celia and Dustin. We laughed the whole time. Dustin was a little quiet during our initial meeting (as lots of grooms are), but wow did I find a playmate during our session! He is one big kid.I also got to spend an afternoon with Celia during her Bridal Portrait just a few days later. The more time I spend with these two, the more I love them.

I can’t wait to shoot this wedding at Vista West Ranch (one of my favs). It’s just a few weeks away!

Enjoy!

Leslie + Ryan: Austin Wedding Photography

A winter wedding with two of the loveliest people I have ever met? Yes, please.

Leslie + Ryan’s  beautiful winter wedding was a great way for me to finish off 2009. Leslie is a dream client. She is thoughtful, appreciative and a classic beauty. Ryan is a perfect match for her with his quiet, relaxed way. They are both a little quiet, but the way they light up around each other was a joy to witness. The two of them planned a timeless wedding. I loved how so many of these photos would have looked great 50 years ago and will look fabulous 50 years from now.

Becky and Stephanie from BZ Events made sure that the day ran smoothly (and also conquered a little bustle problem). Miss Tali was along for second shooting and was great as always.

Thank you so much for having me as your photographer. I enjoyed every bit of my time with you both!

I love love love the Ketubah signing at Jewish weddings.

Weekend Off: Key Lime Pie

We receive a bushel of fruits and vegetables every other week from Farmhouse Delivery. I like it for several reasons; the produce is fresh, local, organic, sustainable and often has items that I have never seen or cooked with before. It shakes me out of a boring cooking routine. This week we received a bag of gorgeous little key limes. I took a quick poll on Twitter as to what to make and it appears that Key Lime Pie or Margaritas were my options. Is there anything else to make with key limes? If so, let me know, because I was stumped.

As I had the weekend off and a little helper, we made pie. My friend and client Garrod sent me the recipe. You can find it here.

Juicing key limes is really tiring (especially when you are doing it by hand like I did – those limes are tiny). If you have a juicer, use it for this step. My hand still hurts a little.

Sorry the food styling on the pie is not the greatest. I had a peanut gallery demanding pie. They were in no mood for me to make it pretty for photographing. Also, we blobbed the sour cream/sugar mixture on after we sliced the pie. I think that’s a personal preference.

Bon Appetit and Happy Monday!
