Liz + Alex: Hamilton Twelve, Austin Wedding Photography

I knew I would love Liz the first time we talked on the phone. She is so sweet and full of positive energy. I met Alex at their engagement session and knew that his calm demeanor was a perfect match for Liz. They have a very sweet, subtle way with each other. It’s like they just know what each other needs. I love that.

They had a perfect early summer day for their outdoor wedding at Hamilton Twelve. Smiles and fun all day long. Thanks for having me along you two! Many happy days to you!!!

I  have to say thanks to Annie and the staff out at Hamilton Twelve. They do such a great job and are amazingly nice people. Also, this was my lovely second shooter Tali’s first wedding back from maternity leave. She rocked it out!! I love you Tali!

Liz’s Dad brews beer and her brewed some especially for the wedding. They handed it out at the Rehearsal Dinner. Adorable! The car was a big hit with the guys as you might imagine. Liz wanted to recreate a photo from her Grandparent’s wedding. They left their wedding in a car very similar to this one.  Shannon Cunningham is an Austin, Texas wedding and portrait photographer.

Saturday Sweetness: Not So Basic Black Album

If you’ve been by the studio and looked at my sample albums, you know I’m a big fan of showing you what’s possible in album design. Pink! Purple! Yellow! Silver! Zebra! I have all of the colors of the rainbow and then some. However, while you have pretty much any option you want, there is someting to be said for timeless, classic choices.

The lovely Leslie and Ryan picked up their album this week and I wanted to show you that the basic black album got an upgrade. It is so pretty. Gorgeous printing and modern binding – sharp, square pages. Yum! It’s completely archival too. It’ll outlast all of us.

Elizabeth + Martin: Wildflower Center Wedding: Austin Wedding Photographer

You can always tell when I haven’t blogged in a while. Generally, I start the post talking about how I haven’t blogged in a while (check!) and then the post is massive because I get excited (check!).

Elizabeth and Martin are two delightful souls that couldn’t be a better match. They have a calm and warm presence that made working with them such a pleasure. Martin also has a wickedly dry sense of humor that kept me on my toes. They met in running class (at Rogue running, a program which I have also trained with and loved – highly recommended) and the rest is history. You’ll see a really cute nod to how they met in their exit – make sure you make it to the end of the post. They had an amazing wedding at the Ladybird Johnson Wildflower center. I remember when we first met, Elizabeth told me how they didn’t want to fight with the natural beauty of the Wildflower Center.  They decorated with bright and soft pinks. It was a cheerful pop of color against the stone and greenery. So pretty.

Bethany and her team from 36th Street Events made sure the day ran smoothly as always. Thanks so much for your help wonderful ladies. You make my job easier.

The love and happiness from all of the family friends in attendance made this a very special day to be a part of. Thank you Elizabeth and Martin for having me along.

A cutie of a little girl that is very special to Martin and Elizabeth. Pie lollipops! Yes, please. A wishing well! Yes! Such a great idea for the pond. Thank you fabulous, golden, sunset lighting. I mean…I die. I Love. This was all them, by the way. Cowbells and ribbon wands were given to the guests for the exit. Elizabeth and Martin dashed to the finish line (aka getaway car) wearing adorable custom racing bibs.  Venue: Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center

Coordinator: Bethany and team from 36th Street Events

Second Shooter: Scott Stater

Floral: Posey

Catering: Primizie

Detail Of The Week : Austin Wedding Photographer

I love wedding details.  You are all so creative and unique and every wedding has something new and inspiring for me to photograph (and drool over  – if I ever do a vow renewal, it will be the most blinged-out-detail-fest.)

So as the busy spring season winds down for me, I’d like to start highlighting some of the incredible details I see. Lots of times, they make the blog post, but not always, so I’d like to show more of them. It could be a bouquet, or shoes, or cool favor – just some fun Friday eye candy for you.

First up, a small but awesome detail from Cassie and Sam’s wedding at Vista West Ranch (big blog post coming once I’m back from my trip). The trend lately has been kinda vintage, kinda shabby chic and I love that look, but I do love a bit of glamour now and then.

Check out Cassie’s gorgeous, long, dangly, sparkly earrings! Way to bring the bling!

Emerge Contest: Austin Wedding Photographer

A few months ago, I entered a super fun contest called ‘Emerge’. It’s different than ones I’ve entered in the past as you were required to enter 10 images from the same wedding in each category rather than a single image. The point was to craft a story with your entry.

I found that intriguing because that’s what I strive for when I’m shooting a wedding. I’m certainly not a strict photojournalist – I love fun portraits and amazing shoe shots and cool ring photos. However, preserving the story of one of the most important days in a couple’s life is  something that is very dear to me.

So anyway, long story short, I won ‘Honorable Mention’ in the ‘Venue’ category. I didn’t take the Grand Prize, but I’ll take 4th. I’m pretty proud of fourth.

I chose Amanda and Timur’s purple Laguna Gloria Wedding as my entry for this category. This was a gorgeous wedding made so beautiful with Amanda’s vision and the awesome planning and execution of a great team of vendors including Prive Floral and Becky Brock with BZ Events. Plus, Laguna Gloria was a natural choice for a ‘venue’ category’.

Here are the images.

Stephanie + Paul: Austin Wedding Photographer

There are lots of great parts about my job. One of my favorites is that I get to meet amazing people.

Stephanie and Paul definitely fit into that category. You may recall their freeeezing engagement session I shot back in January. Well, they had a much nicer day for their wedding at St Austin’s Catholic Church followed by a delightful reception at the Allan House (one of my favorites).

These two are genuine and authentic and have smiles that light up a room. I’m so happy I know them.

Ceremony: St Austin’s Catholic Church

Reception: The Allan House

Second Shooter: Scott Stater
