Fun Times | Pinterest

So do you know about Pinterest?

I am completely hooked on this site – it is such a pretty place full of inspiration. You should check it out. There is a TON of wedding inspiration and I think it’s a brilliant tool to help plan your wedding. There is also style, art, house, party, gifts, DIY – you name it, people are pinning it.

I’m ‘pinning’ under the handle ‘scphoto’.

I have several boards (because the hamster wheel in my brain just doesn’t slow down) but a board of mine that you might like and find useful is the Clients You Should Wear This board. It’s where I’ve started putting clothing suggestions for engagement/kids/family/just because sessions. I’m certainly not the final word on fashion and clothing, but I have figured out what works for photo sessions in general. Granted, a few of the items there are things that I just want to take pictures of, but I do mean it as a resource to you all. The board is a bit thin at the moment, but I hope that as it grows, it’s a resource that will help you jump start what to wear, because it is THE MOST COMMON question I get before sessions. And believe me, I get it. I freak out about what to wear before I get my photo taken as well.

So anyhoo, if you’re in the market for one more site to keep you from working, this is it!

Voting | How Fun!

A while back I got this voting app for the blog. You may have noticed the little

LOVE THIS! icon popping up under images recently.

I like it because I love seeing what images you guys like and I think it’s fun for my couples to see as well.

It’s always good to be loved.

I’m planning a photographic gift of some form for the person(s)  in the image with the most votes at the end of the year, so get clicking! Only images from 2011 are eligible and I believe that you can vote once per blog post per computer. (But you know, be cool and don’t try to figure out a work around, because that’s lame-o)

Happy Thursday!!!

Austin Wedding Photographer | Carmen & Alan at The Terrace Club

Texas sunsets are just the best aren’t they? I tend to forget how hot I was when I see that goldeny light in photos.

Carmen and Alan had plenty of gorgeous light at their May Terrace Club wedding. It was an emotional day as these two longtime lovebirds got married at sunset in front of their family and friends. I have enjoyed their sweet and quiet natures since we first met and was so thrilled to see how happy they were on their wedding day.

They incorporated Chinese touches along with a blue color pallette. The toasts were some of the most heartfelt I have heard. These two have some amazing family members and friends.

Thanks so much you two for having me along as your photographer. You are a delight and I know your life together will be amazing!

Parkside Rehearsal Dinner | Emily & John

So first, of all, yes I do shoot rehearsal dinners. It’s a great way for me to get to know the ‘major players’ before the wedding and you get some great candid shots. I’m very low key about these type of shoots. I generally pull the bride and groom aside for a quick shoot, but mostly, I shoot in a very documentary style. I want you to have fun at your ‘warm-up’ party.

Emily and John had their rehearsal dinner at the fabulous Parkside restaurant on 6th Street. Their terrace is incredible on a nice evening and I really love the upstairs space. It’s industrial and chic, but at the same time very welcoming and homey. I had not met this couple until I showed up to shoot, but they and their families could not have been more welcoming and sweet. I am SO glad I got to know them. They had a beautiful wedding the following day at Wild Onion Ranch, which I did not shoot, but have stalked on another photographer’s blog. Trust me – it was super gorg.

Thanks to Cortney at BZ Events for allowing us to meet!
