Austin Wedding Photographer | Liz + Tim at The Driskill

Liz and Tim were married at a very personal and heartfelt ceremony at First United Methodist Church of Austin followed by an elegant yet rollicking reception at The Driskill Hotel. Liz’s amazing beaded gown and the men’s black tie tuxes fit right in at The Driskill. Even with the large wedding, everyone had fun and seemed to be a good friend or family member. The dance floor was consistently packed. I love it when I see a couple actually enjoying their reception.

Thanks so much for everything Liz and Tim! I wish you all the happiness in the world!

Austin Wedding Photographer | Liz’s Bridal Portrait at Le San Michele

The lovely Liz was married a few weeks ago, so I thought I’d kick off my summer blogging with her bridal portraits at Le San Michele.

It was a hot, hot day (and I always feel so terrible for brides on a hot sunny day!), but I enjoyed spending time with both Liz and her mom. Liz’s dress is amazing – it’s a little difficult to see in the photos, but the beading is just incredible. It’s one of the more distinctive gowns I’ve seen in quite some time. Plus it fit her like a dream and that plus a gorgeous girl with a great smile is a recipe for a great session.

Enjoy and happy weekend everyone!

This first one was my favorite and she chose it as her display portrait at The Driskill – love it!

Austin Wedding Photographer | Merrill and Blayne

Hooray! Merrill and Blayne!! These two are some of my favorites, both as individuals and as a couple. They were married at The Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center in a romantic night-time ceremony.

I had an instant connection with Merrill when I met her. I’m so glad she and Blayne chose me to photograph their wedding because we spent several afternoons laughing and having fun during their planning. I’ve said many times that Merrill has the most infectious smile that I know and Blayne is sweet and tons of fun. He also busted out the dance moves at the reception, which I always appreciate.

Merrill and Blayne opted for a first look since their ceremony was at night. As usual, it was a great choice and the whole wedding party had tons of fun playing out in the fields. The ceremony was softly lit, meaningful and beautiful. The reception that followed was a huge celebration and even a blown fuse only stopped the party for a few minutes. Merrill left the reception in her Grandmother’s vintage fur which was to die.

Thanks so much to Merrill and Blayne and their families for having me along for such a fun year. Best of everything to you both.

Detail of the Week | The Driskill Wedding Experience

This was a few months ago, but definitely worth revisiting.

In February, The Driskill Hotel had a small wedding event – The Driskill Wedding Experience. Several top Austin wedding planners and designers were asked to design a wedding themed room on the Mezzanine level of the hotel. The lovely ladies of BZ Events were charged with the rehearsal dinner and asked me to take some photos.

They designed a gorgeous room (You can read about their design inspiration HERE.  They say it much more eloquently than I would) and had a great team of vendors help them out. Those fabulous people included

Rentals and linens – Marquee

Floral – Verbena

Stationary – Anibella Paper and Ink

Lighting – FILO

Music – Hill Country Strings

Photo Booth – Annie Ray

Favors – Stardust Pastry

Enjoy the pretty!

Sharonna and Derek | Austin Four Seasons Wedding

Sharonna and Derek live out in San Diego and I believe they brought a little of the magic California weather to Austin this past weekend. It was such a beautiful day for a wedding.

We had not met before the wedding and it was such a pleasure to learn that they are beautiful people on the inside and out. I felt like I have known them for a lot longer. I LOVED the classic and chic ivory and black color pallette they used. It was so elegant and I know that Sharonna put a lot of effort into finding just the right details to make this wedding pop and wow did it ever.

Thanks to James for second shooting (and the lovely dinner conversation) and a big thanks to Meredith and her team at the Austin Four Seasons. They were a delight.

Bon Voyage Sharonna and Derek and I’ll talk with you soon! XOXO
