Fun Times | Pinterest

So do you know about Pinterest?

I am completely hooked on this site – it is such a pretty place full of inspiration. You should check it out. There is a TON of wedding inspiration and I think it’s a brilliant tool to help plan your wedding. There is also style, art, house, party, gifts, DIY – you name it, people are pinning it.

I’m ‘pinning’ under the handle ‘scphoto’.

I have several boards (because the hamster wheel in my brain just doesn’t slow down) but a board of mine that you might like and find useful is the Clients You Should Wear This board. It’s where I’ve started putting clothing suggestions for engagement/kids/family/just because sessions. I’m certainly not the final word on fashion and clothing, but I have figured out what works for photo sessions in general. Granted, a few of the items there are things that I just want to take pictures of, but I do mean it as a resource to you all. The board is a bit thin at the moment, but I hope that as it grows, it’s a resource that will help you jump start what to wear, because it is THE MOST COMMON question I get before sessions. And believe me, I get it. I freak out about what to wear before I get my photo taken as well.

So anyhoo, if you’re in the market for one more site to keep you from working, this is it!

XOXO

Austin Engagement Photographer | Jan and Dave

When the fantastic wedding planner and designer Miss Becky Brock called me about this couple, she could not contain her excitement about them. She was like “Just WAIT until you meet them!” When I did meet them the beautiful spring day we shot these photos, I completely understood.

Jan and Dave, I have a little crush on both of you. I think you’re just the greatest – from the way you interact with each other, your obvious love, your impeccable style, to your amazing careers! I am so thrilled to be shooting your Four Seasons wedding this summer. Thanks for being so great and I’ll see you soon.

Austin Wedding Photographer | Laurel and Jon

These crisp sunny mornings do my little photographic heart good. This session is a great example of why I love winter morning light in Austin. It’s glowy and crisp and oh. so. beautiful.

Laurel and Jon were a pleasure to spend the morning with. They are both so funny, interesting and easy to be around. The way they interact with each other had me smiling like a fool while editing these photos. It is easy to see that this will be a great match. Also…how stylish are they? I gasped when they pulled up. Seriously – SO cute!

Thanks for getting up early with me you two and I can’t wait until April!

As per usual, there is an extended cut over at my Facebook page.

Michelle + Angus: Austin Engagement Photography

Michelle and Angus met while working at the Capitol and started dating at a work party at The Four Seasons (That’s the short version. The longer version is super cute, but it’s not mine to tell).

I shoot at the Capitol Building and the Four Seasons quite a bit, but it was extra special at this shoot because both of those places had special meaning to Michelle and Angus. I HIGHLY encourage you to think about a special place for part of your engagement session. It doesn’t have to be anything grand or extravagant. The bus stop you both waited at, a bench at a park, in front of the Alamo Drafthouse or bar where you first met. Anything that has meaning to you as a couple will make a meaningful photograph. You’ll be able to tell your grandkids your lovestory and have a photo of you looking beautiful in your special place.

Moving along…I love Michelle and Angus. They are so sophisticated and stylish – check out those gold shoes and sweet boots!

We braved a windy morning and had a great time.  Congrats you two and thank you!Wind is one of my biggest challenges when shooting, but sometimes it is so romantic. Love this one.  Shannon Cunningham is an Austin, Texas Wedding and Portrait photographer.

Leslie + Ryan: Engaged

I wouldn’t mind if all sessions started with a trip to buy candy. The lovely Leslie and Ryan met me at Big Top on South Congress for a little sweet tooth break before we headed out to shoot. I love Big Top – so many colors! Leslie and Ryan have a very sweet way with each other. Neither of them are loud and crazy, but they are not shy and retiring either. They fall into that ‘just right and just right for each’ other category.  It was a great evening for me.

Make sure you see all these photos. You are going to want the awesome green dress that Leslie is wearing later on. I love that color in photos and it is flattering on lots of skin tones. It goes on my ‘most definitely approved for engagement sessions’ list.

I know this one is a little soft, but there is something I just love about it. It looks like a fashion ad to me.

The day had started out overcast, but just at the right moment, the sun peeked out and we were able to get our sunset pictures. I love this light so much.

Nicole + Tyson: Gruene Hall Engagement Session

I love this engagement session!

Mostly, because I adore Nicole and Tyson. I met them at the bridal show last September and after I gave them some information and it was stashed into a bag, Tyson leaned over and told me ‘That’s the good bag’. First of all – I made the good bag! Second of all, what a smart way to work the bridal show. Anyhoo, this was another one of the ‘so, so hot’ engagement sessions. We were excited because it was 99 degrees instead of 104, but it was hot none the less.

We had a lovely evening strolling around downtown Gruene. Nicole and Tyson did a wonderful job of choosing locations that are important to them as a couple. They spend a lot of time in Gruene together and also enjoy a little shuffleboard, as you will see below. They are also the nicest, most fun people to be around. I enjoyed my time with them quite a bit.

I can’t wait for your wedding! Not much longer to go!
